Confirmation

Confirmation marks the point in a person's Christian journey when they affirm in public worship the Christian faith into which they were baptised and the intention with God's help to live a life of committed discipleship. This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give them power through the Holy Spirit to enable them to live in the way of Jesus.

This very important decision in one's life begins with a discussion and we may suggest you attend some Confirmation Preparation classes. These will guide you through all the steps on your journey and explore your faith, often with others who have made a similar decision.

At a Service of Confirmation a Bishop lays hands on each candidate and prays for them, asking God to give those being confirmed power through the Holy Spirit to live the life of Christian discipleship.
